The small town of Rosh Pinah is an excellent overnight and re-supply location but not a holiday destination in itself unless you are visiting friends or family. The landscape that surrounds the town however, all the way along the road from Sendelingsdrif to Aus, is extremely beautiful…
The Rosh Pinah area is situated between the Ai-Ais / Richtersveld Transfrontier Park in the East, and the Spergebiet National Park in the West. This places Rosh Pinah right on the meeting edge of two amazingly contrasting geological areas.
The Spergebiet is currently still closed to the public, although it is a nature reserve. Hopefully negotiations will succeed in opening it up as concession areas in the not too distant future, which will change the allure of the town to tourism quite drastically. Amongst others this will make the southernmost dunes of the Namib, as well as the historical site of the Roter Kamm Meteorite Crater, accessible to the general public.
Rosh Pinah is not proclaimed and does not have a municipality. The town falls under the control of the two mines, Exxaro and Skorpion Zinc, who manages the town via RoshSkor Township (Pty) Ltd.
